Last night I went to my good friend’s wedding. She looked gorgeous in her dress and most of all, the first night of her new journey has just begun. People tend to believe that marriage is the final step of a relationship – “Finally, my child gets married” – “Finally, I am taken”. But is that right?
For me, wedding is the first night of my new journey with my husband. Me, myself is a newly wed and we are learning to get to know each other day by day – because there is no such thing as an instant process. We literally learn to get to know each other day by day. Marriage is a journey itself and demands us to get along or … get lost.
Of course, before we finally make this decision, we have our moments of fails and getting up again – in relationship. As Paulo Coelho said, “All life’s battles teach us something, even those we lose. When you grow up, you’ll discover that have defended lies, deceived yourself, or suffered for foolishness. If you’re a good warrior, you will not blame yourself for this, but neither will you allow your mistakes to repeat themselves.” (The Fifth Mountain, p. 128).
So, for Eli and Yopi … you guys finally made your decision. Walk hand in hand and pray for God’s blessings upon both of you. My love for you!
